Air travel with your bike usually includes the following steps:
Buy or rent expensive bike bag/case • dismantle bike to fit into bag/case • hand bike over to disinterested airport staff • wince as you notice it is your baggage boldly marked ‘Fragile’ that is being thrown into the cargo hold • wait nervously to see if your bike has made it on to the luggage conveyor belt • cross fingers your baggage contains an undamaged bike • and if it does, reassemble bike.
And then there’s the return journey...
To make your Red Lantern Cycling trip go that bit smoother we can collect your bike from your home or office and transport it safely and securely to the destination on bike specific racking. Then after your trip, we bring it back. For you that means no bike bag or case, no Allen keys or pedal spanners, and definitely no crossed fingers or wincing. We take care of your bike like we would one of our own.
Bike transfer to and from the destination includes collection and redelivery at a convenient time and from/to an agreed location, and is usually carried out a day or two before and after your trip. Available on all our trips, prices vary according to the collection and redelivery location but start from £70 return per bike. For those travelling in a group discounts are available for collection of two and more bikes from the same address. Contact us for further information and pricing, or select the ‘Bike Transfer’ option when making your booking with us.
This service is meant as an add-on to our scheduled Cols and Climbs trips, but if there is a group with a number of bicycles that need transporting to a non-scheduled event then we may be able to help out.
